The first draft of the FY11 Illinois Budget is online. Not surprisingly it contains many cuts and still shows a deficit. There is no detail available until the Governor’s budget address, but you can comment on what’s important to you here.
Streator Unlimited can certainly empathize with the agencies in this article. While we haven’t gotten as close to not being able to meet a payroll, we also had to do a hardship payment request in November.
Here’s a post from the University of Illinois that gives a comprehensive view of our state’s financial situation and the ax that hangs over our heads for the coming fiscal year. March 10 will mark the official opening of what we call “budget season,” when the Governor makes his budget address. Information on the states finances is expected to be posted a couple of weeks in advance of that.
