Out and About/Legislative Update

A couple of outings yesterday: a trip to Brookfield Zoo and also an impromptu cookout over at Humiston Woods. Earlier this week, Mandi took some photos for us at the Streator Area Chamber of Commerce annual Legislative Update: Our elected representatives talked about the financial state of things, Medicaid, school funding, and getting more jobs in Illinois. They were all very serious when they talked. Mandi had a question: why don’t we get a shopping mall or Kohl’s for young people and build an interstate by Streator so we have more business? She didn’t get a chance to ask, but will ask Senator Rezin when she comes for a tour in October. Here is the Times article on the event:

Food For Thought Fundraiser

Tickets are now available for the Food for Thought fundraiser November 12. It’s going to be fantastic–everyone who goes will get a recyclable bag with goodies and a Streator Unlimited Cookbook in it. There will be a vendor fair with give-a-ways and things to sample. And a professional chef will demonstrate the cooking of 10 dishes. We’re rather curious about the homemade cheddar cheese crackers ourselves. The is going to be a really fun day and a huge support to Streator Unlimited!
