The latest numbers are out for the PUNS (Prioritization of Unmet Need for Services).  This is the list of people with developmental disabilities who need services in Illinois but can’t get funding for them.  The total number of people waiting as of 3/12/12 is 21,663.  Broken down to local information it is 270 people in Senate District 38 or 137 people in House District 76.  Clearly the state does not have the resources to expand funding to this extent, but it’s incredibly important that the state use what resources it  has as efficiently and effectively as possible.  The support from the Streator community has helped us keep  our Workshop Program running and thus SU serves some of the people on this list–were they ever to get funding it would not only help them, but SU.
