Economic Power

An excellent column from the State Journal Register.  We tend to get so focused on our mission at SU that we don’t think about the fact that we’re one of the larger employers in Streator, and spend a lot of money in our community.  That’s true all over the state for other service providers as well.  The state being behind in payments is a definite challenge.  We’ve had very few payments the fiscal year beginning July 1, and will probably soon be using borrowed money to pay our employees and bills.  There is an expedited payment program available, so things will work out in the end, but it requires us to exhaust all of our money and credit first.  Still, we understand that the state has limited resources and can’t be everything to everyone.  We just want to see the resources they have be utilized as effectively as possible.
